Camogie 7s Tournament and 30th Anniversary

Our next Camogie 7s will be held on Saturday 30th April 2016 at Tir Chonaill Park, Greenford. This will be our 10th Camogie 7s which is a one day event that includes both Cup and Plate competitons. We are expecting a fine Festival of Camogie with all clubs from Britain attending and the following teams from Ireland:

Broadford, Clare:Our President Carmel O Neill is now involved with Broadford and daughter Aoife plays. We travelled over to Broadford back in 2007 so its great that they are able to make the return trip.

Bunclody, Wexford:Bunclody is Emer Kellys club but unfortunately her lil sis Roisin is unable to make the trip due to exams.

Brocagh, Tyrone:We also welcome Brocagh camogie team from Tyrone. Naomh Brid Brocagh is a small village club of 100 members in the parish of Clonoe, County Tyrone. Since the club was formed 30 years ago we had great success with our underaged teams winning county league and championships. Our last senior success was in 2003 when we won the county intermediate championship. For the last 5 years we have competed in the Tyrone Junior championship. Now we are under the management of Micky O Neill a member of Naomh Colum Cille hurling club in Tyrone, who has managed club and county teams to County, Provincial and All Ireland titles and is a selector for the Tyrone senior hurlers. Daragh O Neill is our assistant manager and currently provides statistics for Naomh Brid senior team. He is a student who plays for Naomh Colum Cille hurling club.

2016 is also our 30th Anniversary so the celebrations will commence over this weekend. Our Presidents Carmel and Majella and many past players will also travel over for the weekend. The club started in 1986 and won 6 senior championships in its first decade. The Celtic Tiger and mass exodus out of London took its toll on the club and it wasnt until 2008 that Tara started to get its name engraved on trophies again. Since then the club has become the most successful club in London, dominating the senior scene by winning 7 consecutive senior championships, numerous leagues in addition to junior league and championship titles. The Clubs pinnacle was reaching the All Ireland Junior Club Final in 2011.

Since 86 we have had many members and girls don the Tara Jersey, hailing from all parts of Ireland, as well as some from England, Wales, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, America and Mexico and we invite all to join us at the 7s to celebrate this milestone.

Presentations will take place in the Clubhouse during the evening followed by a nights entertainment. All welcome.
