League - John Mitchells Birmingham v Tara

Venue: Pairc na hEireann
Date: Sunday 11 October

Tara Juniors winning streak continued on Sunday 11th October at the home grounds of John Mitchells, in Pairc na hEireann, Birmingham. This was the Juniors second Sunday outing to Birmingham as the Junior League beckons to a close.

Tara certainly relished the challenge, romping home outright winners with a final tally of 12-12 to 0. Credit is due to John Mitchells, a young squad with many just learning the skills of the game for the very first time.

Tara were dominant from the outset and rained in score after score from Sheila Fernandes' 1st of 2 goals in the 1st minute to the last point in the closing stages, with little in the form of an answer from John Mitchells.

Top scorers on the day were Karen Curtin-Landy (2-6) who demonstrated accuracy and strength at every opportunity. Sheila Fernandes, not only a forward, but a leader and mentor on the pitch, scored 2 -5.  Mid-field player Colette Fahy scored 3-0 from play and Jacqui Thornton also netted 2 fine goals.

Jeanine Heagney, Louise Clarke and Deborah Laurence each bagged a goal apiece. Tara can gleam much confidence from this performance as they vie for League glory. Their next League match sees them pitted against Fr Murphys on Saturday 24th October, who they last met in this year's Junior Championship Final.

Continued thanks to our supporters and to management; Paul Walsh and Brian Mansfield whose intense training regime in advance of the Senior Club Championship match in Athleague, Co. Roscommon on 31st October is paying dividends as Tara undoubtedly go from strength to strength.

Tara: G Hamilton (0-1), N Barron, S Gill, M Heneghan, C Fahy (3-0),  R Sutcliffe (0-1), C Nash, S Fernandes (2-5), L Clarke (1-0), J Heagney (1-0), K Curtin-Landy (2-6), J Thornton (1-0), D Laurence (1-0).
