Championship - Erin go Bragh travel to Greenford

It was a slow start for the Tara in the first 10 minutes. They enjoyed the majority of the possession but could not break the EGB defence. Even though EGB were depleted in numbers, only fielding 10, their defence battled hard. However the deadlock was broken after Rosie Sutcliffe gathered the ball in the centre hand passed Cat Dwyer who sent a rocket from 21 yards and gave the EGB goalie no chance. This score opened the flood gates and EGB just could not cope with the relentless Tara. Dwyer got a second after Sutcliffe won a free about 40 yards out. Dwyer took the free and the ball deceived the EGB goalie and dropped under the bar. Sutcliffe and Sheila Fernandes tagged on a point each. Tara were in the driving seat at this point. Nollaig Barron was strong in defence and up front Sutcliffe, Fernandes were doing damage. At mid field Cat Dwyer was having a stormer and sending in some great ball to the forwards. A succession of goals from Fernandes (2), Karen Curtin-Landy (2) and Marian Coleman (1) left the half time score 7-2 to 0-0 to Tara.

With a brigade of new players on the sideline wanting to impress management Tara made their 3 changes at half time. Tara began the second half as they finished the first with points from Sutcliffe (1), Coleman (1) and Dwyer (2). EGB fought well in the second half but they were always fighting an uphill battle. Sutcliffe all the way from New Zealand was showing a real flare for her newly found sport tagging on another 2 points. Sutcliffe who picked up a hurley just 6 weeks ago she is showing great potential. Fernandes hit the net again following a great flick from Coleman on the edge of the corner. The ball falling nicely for Fernandes who had an easy tap in. Another newcomer Kate Barrett scored a goal and Coleman then came into her own and hit the net twice. A great performance from all the Tara outfit. Final score 12-8 to 0-0
